Bat Shlomo Winery North, Zichron Yaakov

בת שלמה

The Bat Shlomo winery was revitalized in 2010 by entrepreneur Elie Wurtman and Napa Valley winemaker Ari Erle. Their wine is really (!!!) good. Bat Shlomo was named after Baron de Rothschlid’s mother Betty Solomon (Shlomo). The Baron founded an agricultural school in 1887 and two years later, its graduates founded the community of Bat Shlomo. As early as 1889 the pioneers in Bat Shlomo cultivated grapes that were eventually used in wineries in Zichron Yaakov. The entire community, that for many years consisted of 13 families,  is a testament to the bravery and perseverance of the early Zionist pioneers. The Bat Shlomo winery emphasizes the connection to the land and the long history of the community in this region. Recently, Elie Wurtman commissioned an archeological dig here and uncovered remnants of a community from the Second Temple period.

Tours here are by reservation only and can be for individuals or groups of up to 12 people. The visit includes a tour of the vineyards and a delicious kosher meal accompanied by the Bat Shlomo wines.
